What is a keyway broach?

A keyway broach is a precision cutting tool used to machine a keyway slot (rectangular groove) inside a bore or hub. The broach is pushed or pulled through the bore, with each successive tooth removing a small amount of material until the keyway reaches its final dimension. SK Broach manufactures keyway broaches from M2 and M35 High Speed Steel to DIN 6885, ASA B17.1, and JIS standards.

What materials are SK Broach keyway broaches made from?

SK Broach keyway broaches are manufactured from M2 High Speed Steel (standard) and M35 Cobalt HSS (for higher hardness/heat resistance applications). Both grades are sourced from certified suppliers with mill certificates available on request. Hardness range: 63–66 HRC after heat treatment.

What standards do your keyway broaches comply with?

We manufacture keyway broaches to DIN 6885 (German metric), ASA B17.1 (American inch), JIS B 1301 (Japanese), GOST (Russian), and BIS (Indian) standards. Custom profiles to buyer-supplied drawings are also available.
